About Dr. Kristin Anderson
Dr. Kristin Anderson is a licensed counseling and clinical psychologist with more than 30 years of experience supporting individuals and couples through life’s turning points. Her work is informed by decades of clinical practice, academic teaching, and a lifelong commitment to growth—both her clients’ and her own.
She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Oklahoma State University in 1989, followed by a residency and postdoctoral fellowship in clinical psychology at the University of Texas Medical School. Since 1992, she has maintained a steady private practice and has taught psychology and human sexuality at the college level for over three decades.
Dr. K’s approach blends practical tools with deep listening and lived experience. Her approach to extended, experiential work is also informed by her time guiding individuals through intensive therapy at nationally recognized retreat centers, including Onsite, where she witnessed the powerful shifts that can unfold when we step away from daily life and immerse in focused healing. She draws from a wide range of therapeutic modalities, including:
Mindfulness and Somatic Practices
Experiential Therapy
Positive Psychology
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Neuroscience-informed strategies
Feminist Therapy
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
Relational Life Therapy
Gottman Method for Couples Therapy
Her perspective is shaped by a feminist lens—one that honors each person’s voice, values emotional courage, and resists the hierarchies that disconnect us from ourselves and one another. She works especially well with those who are open—or willing—to lead from the heart.
In addition to her clinical and academic work, Dr. K brings a wealth of real-world experience. She served for over a decade as a Major in the Texas Guard Medical Brigade and spent several years as a professional quarterback in the Women’s Professional Football League. A lifelong athlete, she played tennis and flag football for many years and now enjoys golf—and is currently caught up in the crazy fun of pickleball. These experiences continue to inform her understanding of resilience, leadership, and the many forms strength can take—on and off the field.
